The rapidly changing price of animal feed for meat, dairy and egg production is one of the most pressing concerns for livestock farmers in Europe. Whilst the increase in cost of many feed ingredients over the past few years has been broad and sustained, the cost of high-protein feed ingredients has risen dramatically, and the continued price volatility of soy meal - the most widely used high protein feed ingredient in Europe – threatens the viability of many livestock operations.
The availability of wheat refinery coproducts such as Ensus’ high protein animal feed will provide a valuable and secure alternative to soy meal. Ensus is working with leading animal nutritionists to ensure that feed ingredients produced at the Wilton wheat refinery meet the nutritional and economic needs of the UK’s livestock industry, which will soon become one of the first major beneficiaries of this new source of high protein animal feed in Europe.
